The oldest home in Palm Beach, Florida the Seagull Cottage was built in 1886 for Henry Morrison Flagler, the founder of the town of Palm Beach. The Victorian Shingle-style home is part of The Royal Poinciana Chapel and was restored and enlarged to be used for educational programs for adults and children.
At one time threatened with demolition, the Seagull cottage was rescued by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach in 1984.
The interior design challenge was to keep the historic Victorian flavor of the design yet allow the interiors to work for the many functions it was intended to serve. A fresh color palette and furniture styles reminiscent of the times, along with some authentic antiques, blended to create a stunning and award winning interior.
